honeymoon in europe: paris

november 2002

We kept a journal of our travels in a little notebook. I highly recommend this--otherwise you forget all sorts of little things. Or maybe that's just me... damn coffeeshops!

These were taken in Chez Robert, where we ate dinner--another spectacular French meal. Jen had scallops and I had trout with bacon. YUM!

After the Samaritaine and before dinner, we went to see a temporary exhibition at the National Gallery: Picasso and Matisse. They put paintings with similar themes from the two artists side-by-side. It's an interesting idea, pairing artists in an exhibition like this. Very educational. I've come to the conclusion that I'm not much of a Picasso fan. He seems too thinky to me, too self-conscious--heralding a trend in that direction in modern art that I despise. (They didn't allow cameras, the bastards.)
