honeymoon in europe: paris

november 2002

Gay Paree! We arrived to find that our hotel was the cutest, quaintest thing ever. De Beaumarchais was an 18th century writer (he wrote The Marriage of Figaro, among other things) who lived next door to this space. All the rooms have been redone with period-specific decorations, and framed first-print copies of the writer's work, and stuff like that. We just loved it.

Poor Jen, forced to pose like a dork tourist. Thank god we're not really dork tourists!

This is the lobby--it looks usable, but actually that piano and the card table are from the 18th century. It all stays like that, just so.

Here's our room: Room #1, on the ground floor, overlooking the "courtyard," which turned out to be a glorified airshaft with some potted plants. On the other side of the courtyard was the lobby, so we had to keep our curtains closed so as not to be seen nekkid by fellow guests. The room was tiny but precious.

Here's a video of the room.
